Presented the first results of EU-wide survey on LGBTI+ experience in sports.
9/10 of the total sample considers homophobia and transphobia in sport a current problem
Today, in the framework of the conference promoted by Leap Sport Scotland “Changing LGBTI+ Lives through Sport & Physical Activity”, the team of the Institute of Sociology and Gender Studies of the Germany Sport University Cologne, led by Professor Ilse Hartmann-Tews, presents the first results of the survey on the experience of LGBTI+ people in sport conducted within the Eramus+ “Outsport” project. Oustport is coordinated by AICS (Italy) and has as its partner Leap Sports (Scotland), VIDC (Austria), Frigo (Hungary), and precisely the German Sport University Cologne (Germany) as scientific pillar.
The research, presented to the public of representatives from the press, LGBTI+ and sport organizations and associations and the competent institutions present in Glasgow, is based on the first survey of this kind conducted at European level and has gathered answers from over 5500 participants from the 28 EU countries. The majority of the participants identified themselves as female (48%) followed by a 39% of males and 13% of non-binary. The sample sees participants aged 16 to 78 with an average age of 27 and a strong adherence of under 25. As for sexual orientation, 32% said they were gay, 25% were lesbians, 25% were bisexual and 18% other.
The responses show that 9/10 of the total sample considers homophobia and transphobia in sport a current problem. 12% of those who regularly engage in sports report negative experiences due to their gender identity and/or sexual orientation in their main sport over the last 12 months. Among these the most frequent are homophobic and transphobic insults and slurs (82%) and discrimination (75%), but the reported cases of physical crossing the line and physical violence (38%) and verbal threats (45%) are also alarming. The percentage of those who have declared negative experiences in the last 12 months rises up to a peak of 31% for transgender women (MtoF)
The amount of data collected is considerable and still subject of study and analysis. The full report will be published at beginning of next year.

Oggi, in occasione della conferenza promossa da Leap Sport Scotland “Changing LGBTI+ Lives through Sport & Physical Activity” Il team dell’Istituto di Sociologia e studi di Genere dell’Università dello Sport di Colonia, guidato dalla professoressa Ilse Hartmann-Tews, espone i primi risultati della survey sull’esperienza delle persone LGBTI+ nello sport condotta nell’ambito del progetto Eramus+ “Outsport”. Oustport è coordinato da AICS (Italia) e ha come partner Leap Sports (Scozia), VIDC (Austria), Frigo (Ungheria), e appunto la German Sport University di Colonia (Germania) come pilastro scientifico.
La ricerca, presentata al pubblico di rappresentanti della stampa di settore, di organizzazioni e associazioni LGBTI e sportive e delle istituzioni competenti presenti a Glasgow, è la prima indagine di questo genere condotta a livello europeo e ha raccolto risposte da oltre 5500 partecipanti dai 28 Paesi dell’UE. La maggioranza delle partecipanti si sono identificate di genere femminile (48%) seguite da un 39% di genere maschile e dal 13% non binari. Il campione vede partecipanti dai 16 ai 78 anni con un età media piuttosto bassa di 27 anni e una forte adesione di under 25. Quanto all’orientamento sessuale il 32% si sono definiti gay, il 25% lesbiche, il 25% bisessuali e il 18% altro.
Dalle risposte emerge che 9/10 del campione totale considera l’omofobia e la transfobia nello sport un problema attuale. Il 12% di coloro che praticano regolarmente attività sportiva riporta esperienze negative a causa del loro orientamento sessuale e/o identità di genere negli ultimi 12 mesi. Tra queste quelle più frequenti sono insulti omofobici e transfobici (82%) e discriminazione (75%), ma allarmanti sono anche i casi dichiarati di maltrattamenti e violenze fisiche vere e proprie (38%) e le minacce verbali (45%). La percentuale di chi ha subito esperienze negative negli ultimi 12 mesi sale fino al picco del 31% per le donne transgender (MtoF).
La mole dei dati raccolti è notevole e ancora oggetto di studio ed analisi. Il rapporto completo sarà pubblicato all’inizio del prossimo anno.

A sajtó, LMBTI+ szervezetek, sportszervezetek, valamint a Glasgow-ban megjelent illetékes intézmények képvisel?ib?l álló közönségnek bemutatott kutatás az els? ilyen tipusú európai szint? felmérésen alapul, és több mint 5500 résztvev?t?l gy?jtött válaszokat az EU 28 országában. A felmérésben résztvev?k többsége n?ként (48%) azonosította magát, ?ket követték a férfiak (39%) és a nem binárisok (13%). A válaszok azt mutatják, hogy a teljes minta 9/10-e aktuális problémának tartja a sportban a homofóbiát és a transzfóbiát. A rendszeresen sportolók 12%-a számolt be arról, hogy negatív tapasztalatok érték ?ket az elmúlt 12 hónapban a nemi identitásuk és/vagy a szexuális irányultságuk miatt. Ezek közül a leggyakoribbak: homofób és transzfób sértések és gyalázkodások (82%), diszkrimináció (75%), de a testi határátlépésekr?l és a fizikai er?szakról (38%), illetve a szóbeli fenyegetésekr?l (45%) beszámoló esetek aránya is aggasztó. A transznem? n?k (férfiból n?vé) közül 31% jelezte, hogy negatív tapasztalat érte az elmúlt 12 hónapban
